SocketSense will boost Europe’s technological and competitive advantage in the growing healthcare and medical wearable devices industry. The key factors of project scale, challenge, and depth of required technical skills demand the work to be pursued as multi-actor approach through a collaborative project bringing together European expertise in areas related to prosthesis manufacturing, socket systems, novel Environmentally Friendly, skin safe sensing materials and sensors, amputee patient’s needs and issues understanding, software expertise, ICT systems expertise and biomechanical modelling skills. The required skills and expertise are covered by a strong consortium including two SMEs, one large Corporation, two research organisations, two Universities and two hospitals.
